The Chronicles of the Past is a thrilling 2D platformer and puzzle adventure blending historical exploration, time travel, and tactical combat. Join two siblings, Carlos and Isabella, as they traverse ancient civilizations like Aztec Mesoamerica and Ancient Egypt, uncovering mysteries, solving intricate puzzles, and facing the dangers of the past. A spiritual sister series to The Wrath of Takeshi, this game dives deeper into history, mythology, and culture, infused with the energy of classic titles like The Legend of Zelda and Indiana Jones. Dedicated to both of my good friend, Armando Larrea, and my best friends here in New York City, this project celebrates friendship, culture, and adventure across time.
Main Characters:
Carlos – The Brave Defender of History:
A bold and determined young explorer from New York City, Carlos is the older sibling in the duo. With a deep sense of justice and loyalty, he thrives in high-pressure situations, taking charge in combat and dangerous encounters. His role reflects the courage of classical heroes, standing on the frontlines to protect his team and the integrity of history. Despite his fearless nature, he values the wisdom and leadership of Dr. Aisha, trusting her guidance as they travel through time.
Isabella – The Knowledge Seeker:
Born and raised in New York City alongside her brother, Isabella is the heart and mind of the team. Her sharp intellect, empathy, and love for ancient cultures make her the perfect puzzle-solver and researcher during their journey. Though younger, she’s often the one who sees the unseen, uncovering cultural truths and decoding historical clues. She shares a strong bond with both Carlos and Dr. Aisha, often acting as the bridge between emotion and logic within the trio.
Dr. Aisha – The Visionary Scientist and Mentor:
A brilliant African-American inventor and historian based in New York City, Dr. Aisha is the mastermind behind the time machine and the driving force behind the mission. Though Carlos and Isabella are the story’s main protagonists, Dr. Aisha plays a crucial leadership and mentorship role, guiding them with her intellect, experience, and strong moral compass. Inspired by her African heritage and deep admiration for Ancient Egyptian civilization, she believes in using knowledge to connect cultures and preserve the truth of the past. Her bond with the siblings is more than professional, it's familial, and her mentorship shapes their growth throughout the journey.
The Pharaoh – Guardian of Ancient Wisdom:
A majestic and wise ruler of Ancient Egypt, the Pharaoh stands as a spiritual and intellectual beacon for the team. With a deep understanding of time, legacy, and the natural order, he provides guidance and insight to Carlos, Isabella, and Dr. Aisha as they begin their journey. His role is both symbolic and vital, urging the travelers to safeguard the wisdom of the past before it’s lost forever.
Princess Tizoc – The Warrior of the Aztecs:

When the time travelers arrive, she quickly proves to be a formidable ally, using her skills in combat and strategy to help repel invading forces. Hernán Cortés – The Conqueror of Time:
Ambitious and relentless, Cortés is a conquistador who has discovered the power of manipulating time for his own conquest. He seeks to reshape history, erasing entire civilizations to rewrite the world in his image. As the main antagonist of the Aztec era, his presence threatens the balance of time and the survival of ancient cultures.
